In this clinic,
consultation and physical examination will be provided free of cost and advice
for further evaluation will be given in suspected cases.
The problem of
prostate cancer is seemingly on rise in Indian population, and significant
number of patients are being diagnosed in their fifties. One simple blood test,
PSA along with yearly physical examination can help detecting the disease early
so that timely treatment can be initiated in order to cure the disease.
In advanced disease
the treatment can control the disease only temporarily and can not be curative.
Laparoscopic operation
for cancer prostate was developed in France in 1999. The operation is being done
in this hospital with the same French technique, Montsuris II. This operation is
routinely done by Dr. Ajay Sharma. 94% patients are cancer free till the last
follow up and no patient is incontinent (internationally, incontinence rate is
6%).
The aim of running
this clinic is to promote curative treatment which is possible only by early
detection, when the cancer is still confined to prostate.
