Sir Ganga Ram Hospital
has been running a family welfare clinic for more than 45 years. The clinic
provides free counseling and services for the General OPD cases as per the
guidelines of the Government of India a cafeteria approach is provided which
includes all methods for spacing and permanent methods of sterilization.
Condoms, Copper T, Oral contraceptive pills (Mala-N) and emergency contraception
tablets are provided free of charge in the General OPD.
Female (tubectomy)
& male (vasectomy) Sterlisation operations are done using the latest
techniques , Investigation & medicines are given free. 700-800
sterilizations, about 400 Copper T insertion are done annually and more than 500
cycles of oral contraceptive pills and 2 Lakh condoms are distributed free to
the acceptors, free iron tablets and tetanus immunization is given to ante-natal
cases.
A well baby clinic is
also run under the family welfare programme where free immunization is provided
covering all vaccine preventable diseases : viz - polio,diptheria, tetnus,
measles,mumps and rubella,hepatitis B, typhoid,BCG, ORS packets, Vitamin A,
Iron/folic acid tablets are given free to the children.
The deptt works along
with NGOs like Navjyoti Police Foundation, Aparna Ashram etc in providing free
medical facilities to the needy. For the benefit of the community outreach
clinics are conducted once a month at J.J.clusters in Bawana and Todapur.
Consultation, medicines and investigations are provided free at these clinics,
free trapsport is provided for sterilization acceptors and those requiring
hospitalization.
The department takes
active part in all Govt. initiated special drives and schemes like the Pulse
Polio Programme, universal immunization programme, special drives for vasectomy
and health awareness etc.
