About the Library

Our library was established in 1983 and has grown with the development of the institute. Its aim is to provide access to medical information to the faculty, postgraduate students and research workers of our hospital using conventional "paper" sources such as journals and books as well as the latest "electronic" technology of Internet access, DVDs, CDs and videotapes. The library is situated on the second floor of the Administrative Block.

Its area is 1329 square feet and it has a seating capacity of about 42. It remains open for 12 hours a day, six days a week. Its present collection consists of 2500 books and 3000 bound journals. We currently subscribe to 143 journals.

The Library Staff who is overseen by a Library Committee looks after the day-to-day affairs of the library.

Mobile lending library

Libraries are repositories of knowledge, information and entertainment, With the upsurge in the number of institutes in the field of learning and the intensification of research activities, the importance of libraries is also growing. There are different kinds of libraries depending upon the individuals to which it is catering. Various kinds of libraries are public, reference, special libraries etc. and those attached to institutions of both private and public. These could also include a mobile lending library.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has introduced a new service for the patients as well as their attendants known as " Mobile Lending Library ". The mobile lending library is an extension of the library and delivers reading material to the interested group. It loans books, magazines and periodicals in both hindi and english language .The service is free and open to all in the hospital. There is an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction books of both popular and non-popular authors.

The main purpose of the mobile lending library is to provide the best possible service to the users at all times. Treat all users fairly and courteously, respecting their privacy and dignity.
